Cari McCormick, LAC
Licensed Associate Counselor
I believe that every person already carries the strength, wisdom, and capacity they need
to move through life’s hardest moments. Sometimes that strength feels buried under
grief, trauma, anxiety, or exhaustion—but it is still there. My role as your counselor is not
to “fix” you. It is to walk alongside you as you rediscover what is already within you.
I practice from a Person-Centered approach, which means our work is built on respect,
collaboration, and deep listening. You are the expert on your life. In our sessions, you
can expect a space that is compassionate, non-judgmental, and grounded in genuine
care. You set the pace. Together, we clarify what you want, what feels stuck, and what
healing could look like for you.
My work is also Trauma-Informed, which means I understand how loss, betrayal,
chronic stress, medical diagnoses, relational conflict, and past wounds shape the
nervous system and impact daily life. Trauma can show up as hypervigilance,
numbness, anxiety, people-pleasing, difficulty trusting, emotional shutdown, irritability, or
feeling “too much” or “not enough.” We work gently and safely—never forcing, never
rushing—so your body and mind can begin to feel steady again.
In our Arizona communities, many people are quietly carrying:
Grief after the death of a spouse, parent, or child
Divorce or relationship instability
Blended family stress
Faith questions or spiritual confusion
Caregiver fatigue
Chronic illness or autoimmune diagnoses
Perimenopause and life transition challenges
Financial pressure after loss
Loneliness despite appearing “strong”
The exhaustion of always being the responsible one
If any of that resonates, you are not weak. You are human.
For clients who desire it, I also provide faith-based counseling. Your spiritual life can
be integrated into our work in a way that honors your beliefs and supports your healing.
Faith can be a source of resilience, identity, and hope—especially when trauma or loss
has shaken your foundation.
A little about me: I have lived in Arizona since 1998, where I raised my family and built
deep roots in this community. I understand the unique blend of independence,
resilience, and quiet struggle that many individuals and families here carry.
Whether you are navigating trauma, loss, anxiety, relationship stress, or simply a
season where you feel stuck, our work will focus on helping you reconnect with your
inner strength. You have already survived hard things. Together, we will uncover the
clarity, steadiness, and courage that are still present within you.
You do not have to do this alone.
